~USAT Sanctioned Event~
Held at Union Grove State Park, our triathlon is a relay-style event for individuals as well as teams.
THE SWIM... is a 500M course which is an out and back swim from Union Grove State Park swimming beach. Boats and safety personnel will be on hand at the lake at all times.
Participants Shall be permitted to wear wetsuits without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature or 78°F. If temperatures are between 78°F and 84°F, participants may use their own discretion, but those who wear a wetsuit shall not be elgible for prizes or awards. Participants shall not wear wetsuits in water temperatures greater than 84°F.
THE BIKE... is a challenging 14 mile course that will take you around Union Grove Lake, through Iowa's scenic country side and then back to the lake. All bikers must have an ANSI approve helmet to participate. Bikers without helmets will not be allowed on the race course. NO DRAFTING ALLOWED. Marshalls will patrol the entire course. No support vehicles will be allowed on the course. There will be a SAG wagon.
Bicycle riding in the transition area shall result in a time penalty. All participants must return their bicycles to an upright position in the proper designated bicycle corral after completion of the cycling course and before begginning the next segment of the event. Any violation of this Section shall result in a variable time penalty.
THE RUN... is a 5k (3.1 mile) loop which includes several small, rolling hills, and one large hill within the confines of the park on paved roads. Aid stations with water and sports drink will be set up every mile.
